Stuff happens. And you need a place to put it all. One thing that will help you keep your sanity, mamas, is to have a place for everything. Train your children to know that place, so that as they grow, they can put their own things away. I searched a few thrift and antique stores, looking for the perfect storage piece, but the school year was well on its way, I had not found the right thing, and I wasn’t feeling quite organized. Pressed wood to the rescue! I found this piece online. I liked the look of…
Do you love words as much as I do? I am such a word-nerd. I’m awed by how much meaning can be conveyed in one little word or phrase. Whether it’s scripture, a line from a favorite hymn, an age-old quote, or your favorite phrase, just hang some words on your wall and you have meaningful art. 😉 (Read about easy, meaningful, one-of-a-kind art in this contributor post.) Last week, I shared my heart for the job we do as full-time mamas. It is a joy and a privilege. But it…
That’s right, mamas. This post is a two-for-one. And I’m sooo excited. Because I love the way it turned out. You know that feeling when you finally complete something that’s been hanging around in your head for months, and it turned out the way you pictured it? You’re all, Yaaaaay! Kids, come look! Or at least, I am. 😉 I’m also excited because I’m getting to offer you two things: a set of FREE PRINTABLES *AND* a little DIY tip for a very inexpensive way to jazz…

But I think you’re gonna like this little diy. It’s for all you white-dish-loving mamas out there. Like me. You see… I have these white coffee mugs that look so cute on my mug tree, (find it HERE) which is so handy at my little coffee station. When we have people over, everyone can just grab a cup, and fill ‘…
What I love about thrift-store shopping, is that you can take something old and make it look… older. 😉 I love the character and charm of antiques. True antiques can be quite pricey, but with a little creativity, you can get the same effect for cheap. I think I originally paid 2 or 3 dollars for this frame at Goodwill. It was a yellowish color, but I loved the shape of it. And it was thick and sturdy. While I was giving my farmhouse table an aged look, (click HERE for that post) inspiration struck…
Once upon a time, there was a table… It was handmade for a family of seven, and it was the little table that could. It could seat at least ten when you squished together a little. It could hold a ton of schoolbooks, all spread out. It could handle the mess of play-doh and paint. (They both make me cringe a little. Ain’t gonna lie.) It was my sweet, farmhouse table. But then I played musical rooms, and decided the dining room should be a living room (again.) The table traveled around a bit (literally,) and…
Random fact about me: I kill plants and computers. I recently had to have my computer fixed. again. As for plants…I’m doing better. I remember to water them. usually. I do better with junk and old wood and metal. Maybe because you really can’t mess it up? I shared a little bit of my love for metalwork in this recent post, with the hand lettered HOME sign I made. This is a new batch of signs, with a twist. You get to decide what your sign says, and change it every day if you…
Once upon a time, there was this fella, who loved to work with metal. He had a sweetheart who loved being crafty. The fella cut out pieces of metal for his sweetheart to paint cute little pictures on. And pretty soon, the fella and his sweetheart got married. And made a home. Sometimes, he still cuts out metal for her to paint on. Twenty-five years later. Except now she prefers her metal with a little rust on it. Some things just get better with age. 😉 Follow @riggstownroad on Instagram this week for a chance to win this handmade, hand…
“You are my sunshine…my only sunshine…You make me happy…when skies are gray… You’ll never know dear…how much I love you…Please don’t take…my sunshine away…” This song takes me back. As in, back to kindergarten. Amazing how something so small and simple can transport you across the years that way. It’s also something I’ve sung to all my babies, as I’m sure most of you have. Aaaand I have a little niece who is quite…
You’ve seen my hutch before, in other posts, and maybe on instagram (riggstownroad), but you’ve never been formally introduced. So… let me introduce you to my favorite piece of furniture. Don’t tell the others. 😉 She was always beautiful, but she recently got a makeover, and now she just shines. ; Two things I loved about this girl, were the storage part and the display part. The display part had a downside though. It limited the storage. I could only store things on those shelves if they were styled to my liking and coordinated with…
