I had grand plans, y’all. I’m kinda famous for ’em. I see potential everywhere. Problem is, things don’t always turn out quite the way I envision them. Like the plans I had for this DIY Indian corn. I had the coolest idea. I knew just what I was going to do with it, and it was going to be the most adorable thing. Except that it didn’t work so well. Very frustrating. But then I remembered that the light bulb took a few tries to get right, too, right? So I…
Fall is unofficially here.! Leaves have already started to fall in my yard, and the weather is absolutely perfect. I enjoy all the seasons, but fall is my favorite. I kicked it off with my favorite kind of project…the quick & low-to-no-cost kind. I made some pumpkins from cans, so I just haaaad to call them pumpcans. 😉 Join me over at Busy Mom’s Helper for all the details…
Well, summer is in full swing, and I’m trying to find the perfect balance between getting lots of things done, and getting some R & R. How ’bout you? Today, for my contributor post, I’m sharing a tutorial for this Super Easy Chalkboard Banner. It’s the perfect little project for the lazy days of summer. But my favorite thing about it, is that I’ll get to use it over and over, all year long, since it’s erasable! Hint: It’s very similar to the chalkboard on my dining…
Did you know that you could sometimes get décor for free? That’s how I ended up with this big letter S. My daughter brought it home from the store where she worked. It was left over from a store display. She said they save things like that for people all the time if they ask. Good to know! 😉 She used it for several projects, and was done with it, so I decided to give it new life. I pictured it wrapped with jute twine, and I am loving the way it turned out. You may not…
Happy Weekend, Mamas! One way I love spending my weekend is decorating. Today I’m over at Busy Mom’s Helper sharing a tip about decorating. I have five special children, and I’m using décor to make each child feel special. Come visit me there, and read the details of this project, and get inspired to do the same for each of your children. This is one project you’re guaranteed to be able to finish by the end of the weekend! Sharing at some great link-up parties, including these…
I love browsing sites like Hometalk for inspiration. I can find all kinds of ideas there. So when I was asked to round up some of those ideas for you, I jumped at the chance. I had so much fun curating this board, 20 Outstanding Ways to Reuse a Picture Frame, for Hometalk! If you’re like me, you have a stash of old picture frames, and while you don’t want to get rid of them (you know-just in case) you may be wondering what to do with them. This board features ideas for every season…
Spring has finally sprung! Around here, that means the trees have been bursting with color, and happy little flowers have been popping up everywhere. And I was so ready for it! So, my children and I made these fun Paper Peonies…on stems. I just love ’em. They are the perfect spring craft. I’m sharing the tutorial in a contributor post over at Busy Mom’s Helper. Click HERE to hop over there and see how we made them. See you there! Sharing at Mom2MomMonday Mama Moments Monday Growing in Grace Thursday Motivation Monday Something…
Are you a sign-lover, like I am? I think it has to do with my love for words. I love how a simple word or phrase can carry so much meaning. One quick glance at a quote or song-snippet and you’re giving yourself (and your children) a quiet reminder of something important. This week I finally got around to doing a little project I’ve been wanting to do for a while. It’s so simple that I thought you might like to make one, too. Fortunately for me, my husband is a sheet…
If you ask me, the BEST projects are the ones that take only a LITTLE time and money, but give you a result that you LOVE. That makes this pretty much the best project ever. 🙂 How would you like to make a chalkboard for under $1 in under 1 minute, with no paint involved? I love it when cheap, easy, and beautiful all come together in a project, don’t you? Years ago, a friend gave me this gorgeously framed picture, because she was moving. And while I love old pictures, I just never really fell in love with…
When you choose to be a one income family, for the sake of your family, you learn a lot about being thrifty. Fortunately for me, I can truthfully say that has always been my nature anyway. Practical. Thrifty. Boring. It’s true. One year, when I was 12, I gave my mother rubber gardening shoes for Christmas because the price was right, and it was so very, well…practical. I thought she could use some shoes. Then I accidentally told her what her gift was. I said I needed a box to wrap the shoes in. Then I…
